An adaptation of the Catechism for Young Children in modern English.
Question: What does it mean to believe in Christ?
Answer: It is faith: trusting that Christ alone saves us.
Question: What is it to believe or have faith in Christ?
Answer: To trust in Christ alone for salvation.
“What is it to” is changed to “What does it mean to” for consistency with question 56. Additionally, rather than embedding the synonym of “believe” and “have faith” in the questoin, we make it explicit in the answer. This also makes the question a cleaner clarification of the answer to question 55.
